Grumpy and Happy

One of my favorite animated Disney flicks is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I decided the reason why is because the story, with all it's unique characters, is really a portrayal of the human condition.

Snow White and Prince Charming are the epitome of goodness, the seven dwarfs are a representation of all of the personality traits I can portray in a single day, and the Wicked Queen is a totally self centered battleaxe who is just plain mean and nasty. In psychology it's called the Id, Ego, and Super Ego.

There are days when I am the Wicked Queen. My Id kicks into gear, and I feel like putting horse pucky on everyone's doorstep within a 10 mile radius. Then there are days when my Super Ego shines through. Those are the days when I weed the neighbors gardens, share whatever I've baked, and spread good cheer. But, most days I'm a combination of the seven dwarfs.

Today I'm both Happy and Grumpy. Happy because I spent a creative morning with my 18 year old granddaughter, Ivey; Grumpy because some orange-haired lady tried to cut me off on a two lane road that merged into one lane. I would have given her the one finger salute, but Ivey was in the car with me.

Who are you today? Snow White, Prince Charming, the Wicked Queen, or a combination of the Seven Dwarfs? I don't know about you, but I need to work on getting better at being Snow White by working on my Super Ego.

Oh goody, now we have eight dwarfs! The eighth one being "NUTS".

Now there'll have to be a remake of "Snow White" including the new dwarf.

I one of those other dwarfs too, the one called "Surly."

Now we have nine dwarfs. I like "SURLY". It rhymes with "curly" and "girly". Kinda reminds me of the three stooges. We need a tenth dwarf. We can take the original seven and leave them as is, then take the three new ones and call them the three "Cs". C = curmudgeon. We still need another dwarf. Here we go...NUTS, SURLY, and ?

Lazy?
Humble?
Moody?
Jumpy?
Shifty?
Snoopy?

Mirror, mirror on the wall . . .

If I was the tenth Dwarf I'd be Cantankerous, but I sure wouldn't be bunkin' with 9 grungy little miners. No ol' Cantankerous would have his own shack down by the Seven Dwarfet’s: Busty, Attentive, Amenable, Curious, Amorous, Breathless, and Pointless.

I think today I'm Dopey. No, not dopey, but maybe Gloomy! Gloomy with a pinch of Dopey and a little grumpy on the side

I think I like "SHIFTY". It goes well with "SURLY" AND "NUTS". Yeah, that's it..."SHIFTY", "SURLY" AND "NUTS". I feel a new blog post looming in the recesses of my Super Ego or possibly my Id.

Dwarfets?! Ha! They sound like a compilation of your wife, Randy. All except the last one, "POINTLESS". Why "POINTLESS"? How about "DESIRABLE"?

Jeff, isn't it interesting how we can all relate to those personality traits. For me, Dopey, Gloomy and Grumpy are easy to achieve within a ten minute period of time.

Thanks for all your feedback. You cute dwarfs, you.

Why Pointless?
...Well I think there should be at least one blonde Dwarfet, don't you?

i thought dopey was the blonde one

Pam Beers. said...

Really, Randy! I didn't know you were into those blond jokes. Tsk, tsk. Is there a tad of male chauvanism going on here?!

"POINTLESS" depends on whether blond comes from a bottle or from nature.

Pam Beers. said...

You guys are cruisin' for a bruisin'. No more blond jokes.

Of course the blond in this case is a male, so I guess that's ok. No, wait a minute, Dopey had no hair.

The Disney animators had such presence of forethought.

One more negative blond comment and Grambo will be sending someone some horse pucky.

Well, I'm blonde, and I wanna be a blonde dwarfette (I prefer the French spelling) named Perky (for my attitude)!

Melody, I like the blonde dwarfette idea. I think you're on to something here.
