There's nothing better than a steaming, hot cup of coffee early in the morning. It brings me great joy. I love the aroma, the flavor, and the fact that it's the only thing that gets me motivated for barn duty at 6:00 a.m.
Sometimes that wonderful brew is referred to as Java, Joe, or Jamoke.
Java is named after the coffee bean produced on the Indonesian island of Java. Imagine that. How clever.
Joe comes from the song, "Old Black Joe" written by Steven Foster around 1850. He also wrote "Beautiful Dreamer" and "Oh! Susanna".
Jamoke (pronounced ja.moh.kee) is a combination of the words java and mocha. Now that's a really yummy combo.
For all you coffee lovers out there, I'd be curious to know what your favorite blend of java is. Here's to you.

I grind my own, and I'm sure no one else would like it - in fact I'm sure that purists would go running. Here goes: Half Starbucks decaf Verona, and half Starbucks Verona. Sometimes I'll throw some hazelnut beans in for a treat.

I envy you. It has been several years since I was able to drink coffee, but when I did I drank it neat, no milk no sugar, just beautiful coffee.
My favorite coffee lately has been a whole bean Coconut Kona that we grind fresh for each pot, and coincidently I've also discovered a coconut beer that I like from Kona Brewing Co. I must be pining for the islands. Normally however I just like a good ol' full bodied, not too bitter, Columbian... black, no cream no sugar. But when I am in the mood for cream, I now add a little coconut milk to my coffee instead of that fancy unhealthy delicious vanilla stuff. ...Oh and did I mention that when I buy my coffee from one of our famous Northwest Bikini Baristas, I just smile and drink it, no matter how bad it is?
Pondside: I like the hazelnut beans idea.
Randy: Coconut milk is definitely much better for you than those flavored creamers I use. I'll have to try the coconut. BTW: I tried the bikini thing the other day...like wearing one... and I really need to cut out the hazelnut creamer.

Never been a big coffee drinker, unless it's doctored with a ton of milk, sugar, whiskey, etc. But do like the morning aroma that fills the house.
I am all kinds of not classy but my favorite coffee is actually 8 o'clock!
We grind the beans fresh each day and it is just delicious!

My hubby loves his coffee!!! He is from Hawaii, so Kona coffee has a special place in his list of favorites.

Thanks, lightly. You always make me laugh. My family has been busy trying to get my mother into a skilled nursing facility. Today she is at a wonderful place in Palm Beach and is being expertly and compassionately cared for by the Carmelite Sisters. Alleluia!
