Funky Socks

Funky Socks
It makes me happy to wear funky socks. Family and friends, who know this, buy me all sorts of socks for Christmas, birthdays, and for no other reason than to know it's my most favorite gift to receive. Socks have so many fun colors, patterns, and textures. With the new materials on the market, you can't go wrong with a cuddly pair of socks on your feet. Honestly, I'd rather get a frolicking-good-time pair of socks than a new Mercedes Benz.

Socks reflect the mood I'm in when I wear them, so there's no fooling anyone when people check out my feet to see the type of foot covering I'm sporting on any given day. Stay out of my way when I wear black socks!

I love those funky socks. My frame of mind is light-hearted 'cause I have a pair of the purple and blue striped ones on as I compose this post. Then again, it's Friday and I'm really looking forward to the weekend...socks or no socks.

Wilford Resemblance

Paucus
Wilford Brimley
Our family loves animals, all kinds of animals, especially cats. My daughter has three cats; Paucus, Hiram, and Sunny. Paucus loves to pose for the camera, loves to be groomed, and just loves to be loved. He's a real character with "ham" as part of his persona.

The other two cats, Hiram and Sunny, disappear for parts unknown as soon as the camera comes out. There's no froo-froo stuff for them unless you want to become shredded wheat or shredded meat.

Here's the deal: I think Paucus looks like Wilford Brimley. For those of you who are too young to remember Wilford, I'll refresh your memory. WB appeared in movies such as Cocoon, The China Syndrome, and Absence of Malice to name a few. His recent TV commercials include Quaker Oats, and Liberty Mutual. He's a talented actor, so he's bit of a "ham" himself.

Just out of curiosity, do you think Paucus and Wilford resemble one another? I'm taking bets on this.

It's Wendy's Birthday!

This is a special day. It's my daughter, Wendy's 44th birthday. Wendy's a great person, not just because she's my daughter, but because she's a caring, loving, supportive woman.

She's also more fun than a barrel full of monkeys. She bakes kitty litter cakes, sends humorous cards for no reason, and is full of good cheer when the rest of the world is falling apart at the seems.

Family and friends are looking forward to a birthday bash this evening to celebrate 44 years of love, fun, and creative pranks.

Happy Birthday, Wendy. We all love you.

Leftovers and Leftunders

Thanksgiving was great! I'm so full of turkey 'n' trimmings that I'm really too lazy today to come up with anything creative, so I borrowed a portion of a funny poem my cousin-in-law, Mike, just sent me. It's a poem that reflects the typical turkey coma most of us experience Thanksgiving day and the leftovers that follow.

"'Twill be Turkish leftovers, and left-unders, too;
There'll be soups, plates 'n' 'wiches, with stuffing and stew.
I can guess at our menu for the next dozen days;
Turkey this, Turkey that, in a post-Turkish haze.

That's enough of this stuff, for December's 'most here.
We each gobbled gobbler, and each drank his cheer.
So I wish you this tiding, this Thanksgiving thought:
May you live life quite fully, and enjoy what God's wrought."

Thanks for the chuckle, Mike. Now it's time to put on the long johns, lace up the sneakers, and go for a jog. Or maybe a brisk walk. Or maybe take a nap.
