Silver Lining April 5, 1992 - November 2, 2016 |
When you lose a horse, you lose a partner. Words cannot say how devastating it is to lose your partner of 21 years. This lovely thoroughbred mare took care of me for all that time. Full of energy and always there for me, my best teacher in all things equine and beyond.
I've worked with a lot of horses over the years, but this mare was really special. Forgiving all my mistakes, stoic in the face of pain, patient beyond belief, Silver was one of a kind. She died a blessed death. After being ridden in the morning, she was turned out into a grassy pasture, where she ran and played with her pal, Sadie. Silver fell to the ground with a massive stroke, never to get up again. She is buried under the American flag at the farm where she lived. I will love your forever, Silver.
