A is for Art.
Kudos to the people who privately support the arts. Supporting culture was in the hands of the government for a while until Uncle Sam got the brilliant idea to spend taxpayer dollars on things that blow people up.
Now art support is primarily accomplished through private donations. The money is used to pay the painters whose impressions and expressions are difficult to interpret unless you stand on your head or squint real hard.
Don't get me wrong, I love the fine arts. I also like different types of paintings. I'm still trying to figure out a Picasso print someone gave me. Pablo's print looks like a bad dream caused by eating too much chorizo pizza with poblano chilis, and cheap wine.
Maybe I'll just take off my glasses and stand on my head.

Sometimes I think people just say art is pretty because they think they have it. Otherwise they have to explain why that completely ugly piece of art shouldn't be priceless, it should be burned in fire.
Great to see your A to Z blog!
I'm going to be posting an interview regarding funding for the arts on Wednesday of the challenge. Or something like that.
I enjoyed this post though. The comment about Picasso made me laugh :)
i too support the arts and all the great artists out there.
so to all you budding artist out there i say thumbs up, and can i have a salad instead of fries with my burger
I love art. I support art whenever I can, but mostly I focus on buying new crayons for my sons (ages 9 and 6)-- that way they can be artists, too!
best,

Understanding art is subjective, and I like that. What appeals to me might look like trash to someone else...but that's okay with me. I don't think I have to understand all art and, for sure, much of Picasso's work is beyond my comprehension. :))
HILARIOUS! "Maybe I'll just take off my glasses and stand on my head." Yes, art is one area where people are worried about appearing uncultured if they do not like a piece. Personally (and honestly) I don't get any of it. My husband says that is the hick in me. I enjoy black & white photos of nature, in particular trees. I can "get" nature. ~~EmmlyJane @ Unconditional love with a few conditions
The Arts mean different things to different people. Good to have your take.
